Place of Dreams Venue & Facilities
Place of Dreams is located in the Karoo wilderness with vast amounts of space to enjoy many activities. If you love being outdoors and enjoy hiking, mountain biking or trail running, this is the ideal space for you!
1. Accommodation and facilities
We offer a range of camping, glamping, caravan-stay and fully equipped two bedroom cottages accommodation options. We have purposefully created accommodation and facilities to blend in with the natural habitat of the Karoo landscape. We thereby aim to offer a beautiful and authentic Karoo camping experience, that is somewhat rugged. Take a break from those high heels for the weekend and rather pack your comfortable walking shoes.
2. Ablution facilities
Hot showers and flushing toilets are available for all guests to use.
We kindly request:
That all guests be respectful of their water and gas usage at all times.
That all guests use the shared shower and toilet facilities respectfully, cleaning up after use and leaving these facilities in the condition in which you would wish to find it for your own use.
That you do not flush any foreign or sanitary items down the toilet. Place these items in the bins provided. The toilets work on a septic tank system and foreign items will cause damage to this system.
Please kindly only pack in and use 1-ply toilet paper.
3. Camping areas
-
Each person is given an address, your ticket will also be tagged with your address.
-
Do not camp at any other address than the address that was assigned to you.
-
No exceptions will be made to move your address unless POD crew approves it
-
No camping in unallocated areas. Respect the natural vegetation
-
Stay on the walking paths please.
4. Parking and shuttling
All vehicles will be forced to stop at the parking area.
For events of over 100 guests, we do not allow private vehicles other than those used for camping purposes , in the Pod living areas.
Only pre-arranged vehicles will be allowed in camp area as these vehicles will be crew, transport, RV’s and Roof top tent cars.
Designated vehicles will shuttle all visitors between the parking and camping area.
Once you park you must gather all your camp gear and load it onto the shuttle so please be organised when packing.
Nifty tip – Fit all your camp gear in crates to make transport easy.
5. Kitchen facilities
For events that offer catering:
Please note – should you attend a POD event where catering has been included, the kitchen facilities will not be available to guests for use, as our catering team will need full use of the kitchen, equipment and cooling facilities.
We recommend packing in snacks of your choice, just in case you might feel peckish for something specific.
Please share any food allergies and dietary requirements with us as soon as possible to ensure your catering needs are met.
Please note, if you do want to pack in additional food items of your own, and these items require refrigeration, you will need to provide your own cooler box and/or camping fridge.
Please enquire beforehand what catering will be on offer for your specific event.
For events that do not offer catering:
There is a communal kitchen that we can all use, but it has very limited cooking facilities (gas cooker/wash basins etc).
So we encourage you to be self-sufficient and bring your own cooking supplies
Event attendees will be required to provide for their own refrigeration, cooler box and/or camping fridge (unless stated otherwise in your ticket option)
If any of your personal food items require heating and/or cooking, we ask that you please bring a small camping gas stove, as the kitchen will be for shared use.
ONLY Credit card for bar and food truck will be accepted.
6. Cell phone reception and connectivity
Please note: The farm is situated mostly outside of cell phone range. We wish to keep it that way so that POD remains an immersive experience, without outside intrusion.
There is an area on the farm that you can drive to, to make phone calls and connect to the free WIFI available, to receive email and messages. Simply ask one of our event team members to guide you to the wifi/signal area.
Keeping this in mind – you might struggle to get a hold of the event team the day before and of the start of the weekend. We will be checking emails, calls and messages as frequently as possible in between setting up for the event, but please be patient with us – we will do our best to respond as soon as we can.
We encourage you to please share your questions with us in advance.
7. POD is a leave no trace space – please do not litter and help us to protect the environment
